Amsdorf is part of the municipality of Seegebiet Mansfelder Land and is located in the southeastern district of Mansfeld-Südharz .

The place is about 15 km west of Halle .
history
In a register of the tithe of the Hersfeld monastery that was created between 881 and 899, Amsdorf is mentioned for the first time in a document as the place Amalungesdorpf im Friesenfeld, which has to be titled . Originally the place was on the salty lake and developed into a fishing village in the Middle Ages. With the beginning of industrialization , potash mining found its way into Amsdorf. The salty lake was gradually drained, and the townscape was increasingly shaped by industrial companies.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Amsdorf, Aseleben , Erdeborn , Hornburg , Lüttchendorf , Neehausen , Röblingen am See , Seeburg , Stedten and Wansleben am See merged to form the lake district of Mansfelder Land. At the same time, the administrative community Seegebiet Mansfelder Land , to which Amsdorf belonged, was dissolved.
Economy and Infrastructure
In 1922 the first montan wax factory, Riebeck AG, was founded in Amsdorf, from which the Romonta company later emerged.
In February 2012, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 28.3 MW open space photovoltaic system took place in Amsdorf .
The Amsdorf stop is on the Halle – Hann railway line. Münden .
