Milestone (Theißen North, mile 28)

Prussian all-mile obelisk near Theissen

The whole milestone near Theißen is a small monument in the city of Zeitz in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The whole milestones between Weißenfels and Giebelroth on the Thuringian border are all 2.8 kilometers away from the historical road situation. This creates the curiosity that at three points on the route there is a half-milestone in the immediate vicinity of a full-milestone, although there should actually be more than 3.7 kilometers between the two stones, since the Prussian mile was 7.532 kilometers. In Theißen , this also means that all three types of Prussian milestones can be found on the village corridor , as there is also a quarter milestone to the southeast of the village . A similarly shifted situation will be found at the half-mile stone Loitzschütz with the whole mile stone Schellbach south of Zeitz.

The background for this has meanwhile been proven: the whole milestones were later set up again, instead of Berlin , the actual starting point of the Prussian Staatschaussee , the market square of Weißenfels was now chosen to be zero. This change is probably also the reason why one can only read Weißenfels and Zeitz on the obelisk. Originally the inscription must have read "Berlin 28 miles", "Zeitz 1 mile" and "Weißenfels 1 1/2 miles". The milestone, which is 500 meters from the end of the town, is 3 meters high and is a listed building . It is registered as a monument in the monument register with registration number 094 66134 . The left bench and base are sunk in the ground.

Like the other two stones, the all-mile obelisk is located on today's federal highway 91 , the half-mile stone is only a little over 100 meters away, but on the other, southeast side of the street. This was probably the original listing page.
