Meinhard Prill

Meinhard Prill (* 1954 in Ergolding ) is a German film journalist.

After graduating from high school in 1973, Prill studied German, history and political science at the University of Regensburg from 1974 . In 1976 he moved to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, where he received his doctorate in German studies on criticism of time and the philosophy of history in the work of Hölderlin in 1981. He then worked as a freelance publisher's editor and specialist advisor for German literature for the new edition of Kindler's literary dictionary and as a research assistant in the subject of modern German literature at the University of Munich.

An encounter with Alexander Kluge led him to the German television station Sat.1 in 1985 , where he produced more than 100 films for Kluge's programs Die Hour der Filemacher and the culture magazine 10 vor 11 . After a short work at Spiegel TV , he has been working for various public broadcasters since 1991, including Bayerischer Rundfunk , Westdeutscher Rundfunk and 3sat .

For his documentaries Hitler's Last Victims (together with Christian Frey and Sebastian Dehnhardt ) as well as a backdrop for all times: The town square of Eggenfelden and Between Heaven and Earth , Prill was awarded the Bavarian TV Prize in 2001 and 2004 .

Today he lives as a freelance author in Munich .
