Melanie Grube

Melanie Grube (* as Melanie Wolgast ; June 9, 1981 in Schwedt ) is a German foil fencer and German champion .

Life

Melanie Grube was a sports soldier in the German Armed Forces from 2002 to 2013 , most recently in the rank of sergeant major and studied business administration at the European Distance Learning University in Hamburg . She started fencing when she was eight. She has been a member of the German national team since 2005, and was part of the A-team for the first time in the 2010/11 season. Grube was trained by Ingo Weißenborn and started for FC Tauberbischofsheim . In 2013 she ended her active career.

The first big competition of the Tauberbischofsheimerin was the Junior World Championship 2000, where Wolgast won the silver medal with the German team. In 2002 she won silver with the team at the German championship. In the senior sector, however, her breakthrough came in 2005 when she won the bronze medal in individual and gold with the team at the German championships . She finished third at the Grand Prix in Seoul . She finished the European Championship in Ghent in 2007 on the 27th. In 2008 Wolgast again won bronze in singles and gold with the team at the German championships . For the Olympic Games of Beijing , she qualified as a substitute woman behind Carolin Golubytskyi , Anja Schache and Katja Wächter . In addition, she was third again in the German Championships in 2009 and 2010 , where she won the title with the team as in 2008.
