Melchior Teschner

Melchior Teschner (born April 29, 1584 in Fraustadt in Posen , † December 1, 1635 in Oberpritschen in Posen) was a German church musician, composer, philosopher and theologian.

Teschner attended high school in Zittau ( Saxony ) and was taught by Johann Klee . In 1602 he began to study music, philosophy and theology under Bartholomäus Gesius at the University of Frankfurt an der Oder .

From 1605 to 1608 Melchior Teschner was cantor and teacher in Śmigiel (Poznan). In the meantime he studied in Helmstedt and Wittenberg . In 1609 he was cantor of the Protestant "Zum Kripplein Christi" church in his native Fraustadt. Five years later he became pastor in Oberpritschen.
