Melodie der Welt is an independent music publisher based in Frankfurt am Main with national and international partners.

history

In 1951 the music publisher Melodie der Welt was founded by the Austrian Johann Michel in Frankfurt. Michel had been managing director at Josef Weinberger Musikverlagszentrum Vienna since 1946 . The range of music, which was initially focused on the hit song , was expanded over the years to include other musical styles and uses.

Particularly successful composers of the first years of publishing were Horst-Heinz Henning , Heino Gaze , Hans Blum and Karl Götz, whom Johann Michel discovered, and Charly Niessen , who set texts by Hildegard Knef to music , among others . In 1959, Michel gave the publisher access to the American market through a cooperation with the New York publisher Bourne Co. and thus secured sub-publishing rights for, among other things, titles by Charlie Chaplin and famous melodies from Walt Disney films. In 1971 Johann Michel and Mickie Most agreed on a long-term publishing collaboration to set up RAK Publishing Ltd. to evaluate optimally in the German-speaking area. Numerous other international collaborations emerged. In 1977 Udo Jürgens , Freddy Burger Management and Johann Michel began a publishing collaboration that lasted until Jürgen's death. Associated with the company was Paul McCartney , whose father-in-law Lee Eastman was friends with the publisher. Melodie der Welt also acquired the publishers of Michael Jary , Paul Woitschach and Will Glahé, among others .

In 1996 Pamela Georgi, Johann Michel's granddaughter, joined the management. Under her leadership, the publishing house experienced a decisive turning point. It binds national teams of authors, such as Ingo Politz and Bernd Wendlandt from Valicon Studios, to the publishing house and invests in further collaborations. Melodie der Welt is also active in the children's music sector, including an exclusive author contract with the children's songwriter Grünschnabel , and the publishing house has been administered by Detlev Jöcker since 2016 .

Since 2008 the publishing house has been entrusted with the administration of Edition Stall by Klaus Bartelmuss , who has the successful artists Nik P. and Andreas Gabalier under contract. Melodie der Welt has also represented Uschi Ließmann's Franky Boy publishing house since 2011 . Her husband Jean Frankfurter is the composer and producer of Helene Fischer . With the title Michaela , he and the publishing house landed a number 1 hit as early as 1972.
