Melvin Ingram (* 26. April 1989 in Hamlet , North Carolina ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He currently plays for the Los Angeles Chargers in the National Football League .

college

Ingram attended the University of South Carolina and played college football for their team, the Gamecocks, from 2007 to 2011 , and for his good performance he was repeatedly appointed to various selection teams. Initially called up as a linebacker , the coaches later converted him to the defensive end. He got a total of 111 tackles , 21.5 sacks and three touchdowns .

NFL

In the NFL Draft 2012 he was selected in the first round as a total of 18th by the San Diego Chargers and was used in all 16 games in his rookie season, twice as a starter.
In 2013 he suffered a cruciate ligament injury while preparing and was only able to play the last four games of the season. In 2014 he was only able to play nine games due to a hip injury. In 2015 he remained uninjured and finally established himself as a leading player in the defense with 10.5 sacks , and in 2016 he also performed well as usual. In the summer of 2017, he received a new four-year contract worth $ 66 million with a guaranteed amount of 42 million.
After another excellent season, in which he even managed a touchdown in the game against the Buffalo Bills after securing a fumble, he was called to the Pro Bowl for the first time like his teammate Joey Bosa .
