Joey Bosa (* 11. July 1995 in Fort Lauderdale , Florida ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He played college football for Ohio State University and currently plays for the Los Angeles Chargers in the National Football League .

college

Bosa played with the Ohio State Buckeyes at Ohio State University from 2013 to 2015 . He managed 150 tackles and 26 sacks in three years .

In his time in college, he was considered one of the best players in his position and went into the NFL Draft with corresponding expectations .

Bosa was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the first round in the first round in the 2016 NFL Draft in third place . Bosa and his new team were in disagreement on various contract details until the season, which is why he was only able to join the team with a delay. Due to his contract poker and an injury, Bosa therefore missed the first four games of his rookie season , but then immediately impressed with good performances.

He made 41 tackles and 10.5 sacks in his first season in the National Football League , despite four fewer games he missed early in the season. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year after the season .

He moved to Los Angeles with the Chargers franchise after the 2016 season .

In total, Bosa was able to book 19 sacks in his first 20 NFL games, which he set a new record. After he was able to show convincing performances in the 2017 season , he was nominated for the Pro Bowl for the first time .

After playing only seven games in the 2018 season due to injury, Bosa made it to the Pro Bowl again in 2019.

On July 28, 2020, Bosa reached an agreement with the Chargers on a 5-year contract extension for 135 million US dollars, which made him the highest-paid defensive player in the league.

His younger brother Nick Bosa also played as a defensive end for the Ohio State Buckeyes and was selected second by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 NFL Draft . His father John Bosa also played in the same position, he was selected in the 1987 first round of the draft by the Miami Dolphins and played for the Dolphins in the NFL for three years. His great grandfather was the mobster Anthony Accardo .
