Melvin M. Metcalfe Sr.

Melvin M. Metcalfe Sr. (born November 1, 1911 in New York , † May 11, 1977 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Metcalfe began his career in the film business in the early 1950s. He made his debut as a sound engineer with the Western Silver City Bonanza . After a few more western films, he began working for television in 1956. Until the beginning of the 1970s he worked almost exclusively for various television series, often in the western genre, including at At the foot of the blue mountains , The people from Shiloh Ranch and Laredo .

In the 1970s he was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy for his television work . He was also involved in several major Hollywood productions, including Sssnake Kobra and Giants in the Sky . 1975 he got together with Ronald Pierce the Oscar in the category Best Sound for earthquakes .

Metcalfe was still active in his profession until shortly before his death in 1977. He died in Los Angeles at the age of 65.
