Mensch gegen Mensch is a German silent film from 1924 directed by Hans Steinhoff . The main roles are occupied by Hans Mierendorff , Mady Christians and Alfred Abel . The film adaptation is based on the novel of the same name by Norbert Jacques .

action

After the bank employee Coupot and his girlfriend, the dancer Juliette, quarreled with the industrialist van Kamp, they lose their respective jobs. Since the occasion was more than vain, Coupot is so angry that he joins a secret association called "Omnium". With the help of like-minded people, he tries to harm the industrialist whenever an opportunity presents itself. So he interferes when van Kamp urges his daughter Ellis to marry the son of his creditor Kull in order to get rid of the debts.

Coupot succeeds in influencing Ellis and ultimately bringing the young woman together with the man she loves. When van Kamp tries to interfere, he is shot by Coupot. The police are pursuing the person who fled after his act and are also on the trail of his helpers. Before Coupot can still be arrested, he kills himself. His peers are caught by the police and imprisoned.

The film was produced by Gloria-Film GmbH in Berlin. Oskar Friedrich Werndorff was responsible for the buildings and entrusted Alfred Junge with the construction .
