People in space (AKA Men into Space , in the United Kingdom under the alternative title Space Challenge broadcast) is an American science fiction - television series from 1959-60. It was the first SF television series to be broadcast on German television . The first broadcast was from September 30, 1959 to September 14, 1960 on CBS . Only 13 of the 38 episodes were broadcast in both West Germany and the United Kingdom.

After the US astronaut Edward McCauley successfully landed the first moon landing , the US built a lunar station under his leadership and made two attempts to reach Mars , both of which failed. During one of the Mars flights they rescue the crew of a Soviet spaceship that had an accident .

Production background

According to its own representation, the series advertised with its claim to an authentic representation of possible space travel in the near future. Allegedly the scripts were submitted to the American Defense Department and implausible passages were deleted.

The series was edited entirely on DVD by SkaryGuyVideo . It is not known whether the German dubbed versions still exist.
