Meral Al-Mer (born February 2, 1981 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German musician, journalist and author with Syrian roots. Born and raised in Mönchengladbach, she has lived and worked in Berlin since 2003 .

In 2008 Meral Al-Mer was nominated for the Civis Prize and received special recognition for outstanding achievements as part of the Victor Klemperer Competition. She won the Axel Springer Prize for Young Journalists.

In December 2013, together with Lucas Vogelsang , she received the German Reporter Award in the “Best Local Report” category for the text they called her Titten-Gitti .

In 2010 Meral Al-Mer became known to a wide audience through X Factor , a music casting show with Till Brönner , Sarah Connor and George Glueck . Her first musical release "Streetgirls" - Tocadiso feat. Meral Al-Mer at Universal landed for 10 weeks in the dance chart hits at number 10 in the Benelux countries. In 2013 she also released the singles "Los geht" and "Telefon aus" (feat. Tocadisco). In 2014 "Wie ein Winter" followed (feat. Tocadisco). In 2017 she released the single "Who is Meral?" as well as the EP "Meral". In 2019 she released a new song with "Kaleidoskop", in 2020 the single "Rote Blumen" followed.

Meral Al-Mer's first book landed on the bestseller list at number 46 in May 2013. “Not without my mother” was published on April 19, 2013 by Bastei Lübbe. In it, the artist writes openly about her difficult childhood.

Meral Al-Mer has worked as a voice actress for the following films: Cloverfield and Crank Yankers .

As an actress, she was seen in "POEM" a film by Ralph Schmerberg and in Das wilde Leben , at the Volksbühne Berlin in the lead role Hedwig in the operetta Spring by Franz Lehár and in My Bottle Spirit and Me .

She was also a guest at Rent, Buy, Live ( VOX ).

From 2017 to 2018 she was regularly seen in a guest role "Meral the musician" at Berlin day and night .
