In his novel The Green Heinrich, Gottfried Keller tells in Chapter 5 of an unusual girl named Meretlein who suffered an early death due to the hard, religiously based “upbringing” of a clergyman. The actress and singer Meret Becker musically processed this story in her ballad vom Meretlein . The first name of Meret Oppenheim refers to this Meret .
