The Merrick Mountains are a collection of mountains that are spread over a length of 13 km about 11 km northeast of the Behrendt Mountains in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . From north to south, they include Mount Berger , Mount Matheson , Mount Becker , Mount Boyer and the Eaton-Nunatak .
They were discovered and photographed from the air by participants in the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) under the direction of the US polar explorer Finn Ronne . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1966 after the American topography engineer Conrad George Merrick (1925-2014), who worked for the United States Geological Survey in the exploration and measurement of these mountains between 1961 and 1962.
