The location is on Interstate 10 , which in this area is identical to US Highway 180 , as well as the state highways New Mexico State Route 228 and New Mexico State Route 478 . The nearest major city is Las Cruces at a distance of approximately 15 kilometers to the north. The Texan city of El Paso and the Mexican border are each about 50 kilometers to the south. The Rio Grande flows through the western districts of the town .
Demographics
In 2007 there was a population of 1073 people. The vast majority of them, around 88%, are Latin Americans, which is explained by the proximity to Mexico. The average age of the residents at that time was 24 years.
