The Mettmastausee or Mettmatalsperre (Mettmabecken) is a pump storage reservoir in the valley of Mettma at Brenden , community Ühlingen birch village , in the southern Black Forest .
geography
The Mettmastausee is located in the Mettma valley at approx. 717 m above sea level. NHN. The next place is Brenden (896 m above sea level), a district of Ühlingen-Birkendorf, which lies in the west on the ridge between Mettma and Schwarza . The reservoir is located in the area of the municipality of Ühlingen-Birkendorf.
On the ridge in the east lies the town of Hürrlingen , municipality of Ühlingen-Birkendorf.
From both mountain ridges and through the valley, secondary roads that are only partially open to traffic lead to the reservoir.
function
The Mettmastausee is part of the Schluchseewerke AG Laufenburg pump storage network between the Schluchsee and the Rhine .
The reservoir forms in the network, next to the Albstausee in the Albtal , one of the two side arms in connection with the Schwarzabruck reservoir (lower basin for the power plant of the upper level or upper basin for the intermediate level ).
technical features
The barrier structure of the Mettmastau reservoir is a 45 m high gravity dam . The dammed water is used in the intermediate level, in the Witznau power plant , to generate electricity. Its nominal output is 220 MW .
