Meuro is a district of the city of Bad Schmiedeberg in the Wittenberg district in Saxony-Anhalt . Since July 1, 2009, Meuro has belonged to Bad Schmiedeberg with the districts Ogkel, Sackwitz and Scholis. The last mayor was Volker Barth.
geography
The place is about 20 kilometers southeast of Wittenberg and about 5 kilometers northwest of Bad Schmiedeberg on the northern edge of the Dübener Heide . The southern part of the village is in the Dübener Heide nature reserve . The river Flieth flows through the Meuro district .
history
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Sackwitz was incorporated.
A central agricultural flight test base (AFES) was built in the former district of Ogkel from 1981 to 1983. Until German reunification, the base and the airfield served as an experimental basis for carrying out application-related investigations with agricultural aircraft. In addition, attempts to fight forest fires using helicopters were carried out on the site.

Meuro is located on the national road 129 between Kemberg and Bad Schmiedeberg . The B 2 runs west of the municipality and the B 182 to the east .
