Michael Anderl (born May 14, 1980 in Rosenheim ) is a German church musician , organist , choir director and conductor . Since 2011 he has been the Stiftskapellmeister and artistic director of the Stams Collective Music of the Stams Cistercian Abbey in Tyrol.

Life

Michael Anderl studied Catholic church music and music theory at the University of Music and Theater in Munich : organ with Harald Feller , choir direction with Michael Gläser and Gregorian chant with Johannes Berchmans Göschl . During his Munich studies he was a church musician in the parish of St. Hildegard in Munich . From 2006 to 2011 he was a full-time church musician in the parish of St. Andreas (Trostberg) , where he also directed the Adam Gumpelzhaimer Choir. From September 2011 to summer 2018 he was a member of the convent of the Cistercian Abbey of Stams in Tyrol as Brother Martin . There the three organs of the monastery were restored or renewed under his aegis: the choir organ from 1757, built by Andreas Jäger , restored by master organ builder Alois Linder ; the main organ (case 1773 by Johann Evangelist Feyrstein ) renewed by Rieger Orgelbau Schwarzach; the organ of the Holy Blood Chapel from 1771, built by Franz Greil , reconstructed by Alois Linder. The conception and realization of the content of the new Museum Stift Stams, which opened on November 5, 2017, goes back to Michael Anderl.

As part of his theology and religious education studies at the University of Innsbruck , he dealt intensively with the life and work of the Stams pen writer P. Kassian Primisser (1735–1771).

The Stiftsmusik Stams, consisting of the Choir of the Stiftsmusik Stams and the orchestra “Paluselli Consort Stams” goes back to his initiative. In addition to the great works of musical literature (e.g. Georg Friedrich Händel The Messiah , Felix Mendelssohn : Paulus ; Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert : Symphonies), both ensembles also perform largely unknown works from the important music archive of Stams Abbey, e.g. B. by Jan Zach , Johann Georg Lang , Adalbert Gyrowetz , Karl Anton von Gerstner , Frantisek Xaver Brixi and others. As part of the “Octophonia” festival at the Ottmarsheim abbey church, the Stams collegiate music is one of the eight choirs along the Via Habsburg that are classified as cultural Ambassadors take part.
