Michael E. "Mike" Anti (born August 2, 1964 in orange ) is a former American sports shooter .

successes

Michael Anti took part in four Olympic Games . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he took 18th place in a prone position with the small bore rifle. Eight years later he placed in Atlanta in the three-position fight as ninth and the top ten shooters of the competition. In 2004 he moved into Athens with 1165 points as seventh place in the final of the three-position fight, in which he was the best shooter with 98.1 points. This pushed him up to second place behind Jia Zhanbo , who defended his lead from qualifying. With a total of 1263.1 points, Anti won the silver medal ahead of Christian Planer . In the competition for the horizontal attack, he did not get past 24th place. Also in 2008 in Beijing he missed the finals in this discipline in ninth place, if only because of a weaker shooting result in a single series of shots.

Michael Anti won his first medal at world championships in Caracas in 1982 , when he and the team took bronze in a kneeling position with the small bore rifle. In 2002 in Lahti he was runner-up in the team competition of the three-position fight with the free rifle and the small-bore rifle. The Pan American Games in Havana in 1991 were extremely successful for him : he won the gold medal in the individual competitions with the small-bore rifle in the three-position fight and in the kneeling position and repeated this success in the respective team competitions. In addition, he secured the gold medal with the US team in the lying position.

Michael Anti joined the US Army in 1988 , where he was accepted into the US Army World Class Athlete Program . In 2008 he resigned with the rank of major . He then became a shooting sports coach at West Virginia University , with whom he celebrated further success in college sports . Anti is married and has two children.
