Michael Becker (* 1955 ) is a German legal scholar.

Life

He studied law at Saarland University . After the state exams and the judicial traineeship in Saarland , the doctorate in 1984 with Volker Emmerich with a commercial law topic, he was assistant at the Institute for European Law at the University of Saarland, first with Bernhard Aubin , then with Günther Jahr . Then he completed an LL.M. - Degree in corporation law from New York University . He then worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, responsible for the country departments for Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the USA. After completing his habilitation in 1996 at the University of Hamburg (Faculty of Law I) with the granting of the license to teach the subjects of civil law, commercial law, civil procedural law, international private law and comparative law with Ernst-Joachim Mestmäcker and Karsten Schmidt with a comparative law thesis on the problem of administrative control through shareholder rights He held lectureships in German and US law in Jena , FU Berlin , Hamburg and at the TU Dresden , where he accepted the chair for civil law, commercial law, civil procedural law and private international law in the 1998 summer semester.
