Michael Bunluen Mansap

Michael Bunluen Mansap (born April 2, 1929 in Wat Phleng , Ratchaburi Province , Thailand , † December 2, 2010 in Bangkok ) was Bishop of Ubon Ratchathani .

Life

Michael Bunluen Mansap was ordained a priest on December 21, 1951 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Ubon Ratchathani on May 21, 1976 . The former bishop of Ubon Ratchathani Claude Germain Berthold MEP donated him episcopal ordination on August 12 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Michael Michai Kitbunchu , Archbishop of Bangkok , and Joseph Ek Thabping , Bishop of Ratchaburi . On March 25, 2006 Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.

Bunluen, a supporter of Catholic social teaching , was founder of the Catholic Council of Thailand for Development (Catholic Council of Thailand for Development CCTD) and the Thai Church's Justice and Peace Commission .

In the Bishops' Conference of Thailand (CBCT) he was chairman of the Commission on Educational Research, the Commission on Ethnic Groups and the Episcopal Commissions on Social Work. In addition, Bunluen was from 1974 to 1976 and from 1978 to 1984 secretary of the educational research department of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences.

As head of the “Iustitia et Pax” commission, Michael Bunluen Mansap called for social change after the 2006 coup .
