The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ubon Ratchathani ( lat. : Dioecesis Ubonratchathaniensis , Thai : สังฆมณฑล อุบลราชธานี ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Thailand .

organization

The 53,917 km² diocese includes the provinces of Amnat Charoen , Maha Sarakham , Roi Et , Si Sa Ket , Surin , Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon . It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Thare and Nonseng ( Archidioecesis Tharensis et Nonsengensis , อัคร สังฆมณฑล ท่า แร่ - หนอง แสง ) as a suffragan .

history

The Diocese of Dio goes back to the Apostolic Vicariate of Ubon, which was separated from the Archdiocese of Thare and Nongseng on May 7, 1953. In 1965 the western part of the vicariate became the Apostolic Vicariate of Nakhon Ratchasima . On December 18, 1965, the vicariate was elevated to a diocese.
