The Roman Catholic Diocese of Udon Thani ( lat. : Dioecesis Udonthaniensis , Thai : สังฆมณฑล อุดรธานี ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Udon Thani in Thailand .

organization

The 50,046 km² diocese includes the provinces of Khon Kaen , Loei , Nongbua Lamphu , Nong Khai and Udon Thani . It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Thare and Nonseng ( Archidioecesis Tharensis et Nonsengensis , อัคร สังฆมณฑล ท่า แร่ - หนอง แสง ) as a suffragan .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Udonthani on May 7, 1953 from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Thare .

On December 18, 1965, it was elevated to a diocese. It took its current name on July 2, 1969.
