Michael Denzin (born April 22, 1944 in Ribnitz ; † June 11, 2017 ) was a German politician ( FDP ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1964, he studied economics and journalism at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 1964 to 1970 .

From 1971 to 1974 Denzin was a member of the management of the Markenverband e. V., Wiesbaden, from 1974 to 1985 he held a leading position in the Hessian Ministry of the Interior.

Denzin was a Protestant, married and had three children.

politics

Denzin has been a member of the FDP since 1971 , from 1975 to 2004 intermittently district chairman, from 1980 to 1982 district chairman, from 1975 to 1995 member, since 1995 co-opted member of the state board, since 1975 delegate to the federal party conference.

From 1977 to 1985 and since 1993 he was a member of the Rheingau-Taunus district council and chairman of the district parliamentary group. From 1977 to 1997 and from 2006 he was a member of the regional planning association, later the southern Hesse planning assembly.

From 1985 to 1991 Denzin was first district councilor in the Rheingau-Taunus district .

He was a member of the state parliament from April 5, 1995 to 2008. He ran for election in the Rheingau-Taunus I constituency , but was always elected via the state list of the FDP. From July 1, 1997, he was deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. He was a member of the Committee for Economics and Transport, Bathing Advisory Council, and Consumer Advisory Council at the Hessian Ministry for Economics, Transport and State Development.

In November 2009 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
