Michael Ehrenreich Kauzmann

Michael Ehrenreich Kauzmann (* 25. June 1769 in Schwabach , † July 16 . Jul / 28. July  1816 greg. In Reval ) was a German surgeon and university lecturer in Tartu .

Life

From October 21, 1799, Kauzmann studied medicine at the University of Erlangen , where he joined the Corps Franconia II. He then served for seven years as a squadron surgeon in the Prussian Cuirassier Regiment of Borstel. In 1802 he received his doctorate on a new trepanation instrument . He practiced in his hometown for a while. Prosector since 1803 , he was appointed to the surgical chair of the University of Dorpat in 1805 . He resigned his professorship in 1810 and practiced in Dorpat, from 1813 in Riga and from 1816 in Reval, where he soon died at the age of 47.
