Location of Flüggendorf in Schleswig-Holstein

Flüggendorf is a district of the community Schönkirchen in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The place Flüggendorf is mentioned for the first time in 1482.

The village belonged to the possessions of the Counts of Rantzau , who built the first schoolhouse in Flüggendorf in 1737 (one half of which was used as a poor house). Later the village belonged to Gut Oppendorf . The development of the village was closely related to that of the estate, so in 1761 the estate company built a smoke house to preserve meat. In 1867, the Hufner in Flüggendorf replaced their obligations, in particular the manual and clamping services , to the manor.

As early as July 11, 1852, the people of Flüggendorf had joined together in a broken bones guild to help each other in emergencies caused by broken bones and loss of vision through no fault of their own. Storm damage such as that caused by the hurricane of February 12, 1894 was also settled in self-help institutions such as the Wind Guild for Schönkirchen and the surrounding area from 1819 .

On October 1, 1928, the manor district of Oppendorf was converted into the municipality of Oppendorf, which in addition to Oppendorf and Flüggendorf also included Schönhorst .

In 1939 a light headlight and anti-aircraft battery to protect the Reichskriegsport in Kiel was housed in Flüggendorf, which was supplemented by a heavy anti-aircraft battery in 1941. In the war years, Flüggendorf was therefore also the target of bombing , which led to destruction in the village.

After the Second World War , displaced persons were initially housed in the school from the end of May to the end of September 1945 until other accommodation options were found.

On April 1, 1970, Flüggendorf was incorporated into the municipality of Oppendorf after Schönkirchen .
