Controversy

Election for finance mayor

According to the version of the municipal code for Baden-Württemberg at the time, Michael Föll could not have been elected finance mayor due to a lack of relevant training. The state parliament changed the municipal code for this.

Affair Fajfr

Michael Föll won the German youth championship title in figure skating twice. Even as an adult, he remained connected to figure skating as an official. In the trial against the then Stuttgart figure skating coach Karel Fajfr , who in 1995 was found guilty of mistreating a person under protection , sexual abuse of a person under protection in eleven cases and bodily harm in two cases, Michael Föll was also accused as chairman of the TuS Eislauf Stuttgart. Föll, who was authorized to give instructions to the trainer, was, in the opinion of the court, a guarantor of the victims and was obliged to intervene. However, he did not fulfill this obligation and, on the contrary, promoted the "brutal behavior of the trainer" by preventing discussions about what happened in club meetings. He was sentenced to a fine of 90 daily rates, equivalent to 9,000 marks, for aiding and abetting mistreatment of those under protection.

From 1999 to 2003 Föll was a functionary of the International Skating Union.

Advisory board member at Wolff & Müller

From July 14th to August 10th 2010 Michael Föll was a member of the advisory board of the construction company Wolff & Müller . In May 2010, the company was awarded the contract for the demolition of the north wing of Stuttgart Central Station as part of the “Stuttgart 21” project . Project opponents saw a connection between the award of the contract and the appointment to the advisory board. Föll then ended his work on the advisory board “to avoid any appearance that (he) could in any way get into a conflict of interest in (his) office as mayor”.

ProChrist
