Michael Hader

Michael Häder (born May 26, 1952 in Berlin ) is a German sociologist and economist specializing in methods of empirical social research . From 2001 to 2019 he was a professor at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

Born in Berlin in 1952, Häder graduated from high school in 1970 with an Abitur. After studying sociology at the Humboldt University of Berlin in the economics section (1970–1974), graduating as a university sociologist and graduating as an economist in 1974, Häder was a research assistant at the sociology department in the philosophy section between 1974 and 1978 of the University of Leipzig .

His doctorate in the economics section at the University of Leipzig in 1978 was followed by a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology and Social Policy at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in Berlin between 1978 and 1991 . There Häder initially worked in the methodology / methodology department, later in the sociological-methodological center and finally in the empirical-methodological working group. In 1987, Häder completed his doctorate in economics (Dr. sc. Oec.) At the Institute for Sociology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. After a position as project manager at the Center for Surveys, Methods and Analyzes (ZUMA) in Mannheim (1992–1998) and a substitute for the professorship for methods of empirical social research at the Institute for Sociology at the TU Dresden between 1998 and 1999, Häder was from 1999 until 2001 again project manager at the center for surveys, methods and analyzes in Mannheim.

In 2001 Michael Häder took over the professorship for methods of empirical social research at the Institute for Sociology of the Philosophical Faculty of the Technical University of Dresden. He held this position until his retirement in 2019. His successor was Natalja Menold .
