Michael Hartig

Michael Hartig (born September 28, 1878 in Mauern , † April 12, 1960 in Munich ) was a German art historian and Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1898 Hartig studied theology at the PTH Freising and the LMU Munich and art history at the LMU Munich and the University of Würzburg . From 1910 he was head of the Archbishop's Archives, from 1917 also head of the library of the Munich Metropolitan Chapter. After receiving his doctorate in 1914 as Dr. phil. in Würzburg he was the founding chairman of the Association for Diocesan History of Munich and Freising from 1924 to 1954. In 1925 he became cathedral capitular in Munich. In 1920 he lectured at the St. Anna Franciscan College in Munich. From 1925 to 1942 he was a lecturer at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences . From 1950 to 1960 he taught as honorary professor for Christian art at the LMU Munich.

From 1945 to 1960 Hartig was the chairman of the Historical Association of Upper Bavaria .

Hartig lived in the house at Widenmayerstraße 2 in the Lehel district of Munich .
