Michael Hogrebe (born June 28, 1965 in Olsberg ) is a Brigadier General of the Air Force of the German Armed Forces and has been in command of the ground-based units in the Air Force Command since March 12, 2019 .

Military career

Training and first uses

In 1984 Hogrebe joined the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate in the 7th Company / Air Force Training Regiment 3. He then completed the officer training course at the 4th inspection of the Luftwaffe officers' school, and then from 1985 to 1989 he studied aerospace engineering at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich . After completing this degree, Hogrebe was deployed from 1989 to 1992 as combat command officer PATRIOT in the staff squadron of anti-aircraft missile group 21 in Möhnesee - Echtrop and then from 1992 to 1994 as operational officer 6th squadron of anti-aircraft missile group 26. From 1994 to 1997 he was employed as an operational officer in the staff of the anti-aircraft missile group 26, before he completed the 42nd General Staff Course (LGAN Luftwaffe) at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg from 1997 to 1999 .

Service as a staff officer

Hogrebe's first assignment as a staff officer led him from 1999 to 2000 as head of department A 3a in the command of the 3rd Air Force Division. This was followed from 2000 to 2003 as a consultant in the planning staff work area 1 of the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . From 2003 to 2006 he was used as a military assistant with Commander Allied Force Command Brunssum . In 2006, Hogrebe became the commander of anti-aircraft missile group 21 in Sanitz , which he led until 2008, and then again from 2008 to 2010 in the planning staff working area 1 of the Federal Ministry of Defense (this time as working area manager). In 2010 another ministerial assignment followed as head of the secretariat structure commission. From 2010 to 2011 Hogrebe was used as deputy head of the Bundeswehr Conversion Task Force in the Federal Ministry of Defense. From 2011 to 2012, Hogrebe headed the Structural Reform Task Force as head of division in the Federal Ministry of Defense. In the same year he was reassigned to the staff of the Air Force Inspector as Head of Division III 6 . From 2012 to 2015 he was employed as a subdivision manager 2I Operations / Operational Management Air Force in the Air Force Command. In this assignment, Hogrebe was also in action in 2015 as the commander of the German contingent ACTIVE FENCE Turkey in Turkey .

Service as a general

On October 1, 2015, Hogrebe, promoted to Brigadier General, was deployed to the post as head of operations in the Air Force Command . He handed over this post to Colonel Bernd Stöckmann in January 2019 . In March 2019, Hogrebe succeeded Brigadier General Michael Gschoßmann as commander of ground-based units in the air force command in Cologne- Wahn .
