Michael Jendrusch (born October 23, 1951 - † May 28, 2020 in Neubrandenburg ) was a German football player. Between 1971 and 1984 he played in Neubrandenburg in the second-rate GDR league , in which he made a name for himself as a successful goalscorer.

Athletic career

At the age of ten, Michael Jendrusch began his career as a football player in the Neubrandenburg children's and youth sports school . Then he played for the company sports community (BSG) Post Neubrandenburg , where he completed his first assignments in the men's area with the 2nd team in the third-class district league .

In 1970 Jendrusch moved to the city rival, the army sports association ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg , which was also represented in the district league. At the end of the 1970/71 season, the army footballers had become district champions with Jendrusch and were promoted to the GDR league. In the following two GDR league seasons Jendrusch was part of the ASG player base and played 34 of the 44 league games. With ten hits he already indicated his goal danger.

In April 1973 he was discharged from the army and returned to Post Neubrandenburg, where he was used in two GDR league games until the end of the season, where he scored two more goals. In the following years, Jendrusch developed into an indispensable goal scorer for BSG Post. In the seasons from 1973/74 to 1977/78 he scored a total of 103 goals in the GDR league games and was the top scorer in each season both at the BSG Post and in the relevant league season. From the 1978/79 season he left his form strength. After he had only missed five league games in the past five seasons, he was only used 18 times in the 22 league games in 1978/79 and only scored seven goals, with which he was again the top scorer of the Neubrandenburgs. Jendrusch played his last season for Post Neubrandenburg in 1979/80, in which he played eight league games and scored one goal.

At the age of 28 he moved to BSG Baumechanik Neubrandenburg for the 1980/81 season . The soccer team had just been relegated from the district league and was now competing in the fourth-class district class in Neubrandenburg. 1982 Jendrusch rose again with the BSG Baumechanik in the district league, where the team organized a march in 1982/83 and rose as district champion in the GDR league. So Jendrusch came back to a GDR league season in 1983/84. There he came to five point games without scoring. He continued to play in the district league with BSG Baumechanik until 1986, after which he had to end his football career after three knee operations. He had played 172 games in the GDR league and scored 123 goals. According to the GDR football historian Hanns Leske, he ranks 7th in the record list of the best goalscorers in East Germany's second division.
