Michael Joseph Kaniecki SJ (born April 13, 1935 in Detroit , † August 6, 2000 ) was Bishop of Fairbanks .

Life

Michael Joseph Kaniecki joined the Jesuit order in and received on 5 June 1965, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope John Paul II named him Coadjutor Bishop of Fairbanks on March 8, 1984 . The Bishop of Fairbanks, Robert Louis Whelan SJ, ordained him episcopal on May 1 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Anchorage , Francis Thomas Hurley , and the Bishop of Juneau , Michael Hughes Kenny .

With the resignation of Robert Louis Whelans on June 1, 1985, he followed this as Bishop of Fairbanks.
