Michael Joseph Rossbach (also Michael Josef Roßbach or Michael Roßbach ; born February 12, 1842 in Heidingsfeld , † October 8, 1894 in Munich ) was a German physician , pharmacologist and university professor .

Life

Rossbach studied medicine at the universities of Würzburg , Munich , Berlin and Prague . In 1865 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD before 1869 its Habilitation took place in pharmacology. At first he taught in Würzburg as a private lecturer , in 1874 he received a position there as an associate professor .

In 1882 Rossbach accepted a call as a full professor of special pathology and therapy at the University of Jena . He also succeeded Hermann Nothnagel as director of the Jena medical clinic . For health reasons he gave up his position in 1892 and moved to Munich.

Rossbach was elected with membership number 2688 on November 8th, 1887 as a member of the Leopoldina Academy of Sciences.

Rossbach died in Munich and was buried in the old northern cemetery .
