At the age of 35 he (...) withdrew to the flat country - for 10 years now he has lived (...) in Burg in Dithmarschen , directly behind the Kiel Canal, and draws his inspiration for his meditative and spatial depths Pictures from the vastness and silence of the north German landscape. “... the board of directors of the Research Institute for the Fine Arts together with members of the Senate of the Jean Gebser Academy have found that their works of art stand out clearly, and the futuristic-looking surrealism with a style that is realistic with excellent pointillery is particularly impressive and the homogeneity in the image synthesis. ”“

- Axel-Alexander Ziese , Research Institute for the Fine Arts, Nuremberg 1998

“... Michael Kühne's creations live from compositional dynamics as well as from coloristic diversity and fantasy. Unmistakably his striving for validity in form and expression, idiosyncratic and convincing. This secures the work of the young artist a remarkable place between reality and vision , - they convey a timelessly closed statement of great depth to the viewer. "

- Victor H. Elbern , Professor of Art History at the Free University of Berlin.

" Ductus and perspective technique, in a congenial collaboration, give Kühne's pictures their incomparable depth effect, that pull that the viewer cannot escape."

- Katrin Schäfer, art historian, director of the Art House Boskamp in Hohenlockstedt, 2000

“In the combination of your foundations and their connection with other lively design elements, there is a strong attraction and symbolic power of your pictures. Everyone sees something different in this and identifies with it. This makes them stand out from the crowd in surrealist painting . "

- J. Spethmann, Dresden 2006

“The lattice patterns falling into the depths of the room are Michael Kühne's trademark. The fantastic landscapes of the burger artist are full of symbolism, send you on a journey of discovery through religion, the present and history. "

- Jörg Jahnke, journalist, Burg / Dithmarschen, 2015
