Groß Wieblitz is a district of the Hanseatic city of Salzwedel in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The Altmark village of Groß Wieblitz, a round village with a church on the square, is located about seven kilometers southwest of Salzwedel. The pond ditch Wieblitz flows from the pond in the southwest of the village to the west into the Salzwedeler Dumme . The east of the village is drained by the Wieblitz-Eversdorfer Graben , which flows north, also to the Salzwedeler Dumme.
history
The first mention of Groß Wieblitz is the mention of Groten Wibelitze in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375. The village had 12 hooves . Further mentions are 1544 tho grothen Wibelisse , 1600 Groß Wiebelitz , 1687 Grossen Wiebelitz and 1802 Groß Wiebelitz .
Incorporations
On July 1, 1950, the communities of Groß Wieblitz and Klein Wieblitz in the Salzwedel district were merged to form the community of Wieblitz . On August 1, 1972, the communities of Wieblitz and Eversdorf were merged to form the community of Wieblitz-Eversdorf . Wieblitz was thus dissolved. Groß Wieblitz and Kleinwieblitz became districts of Wieblitz-Eversdorf. Wieblitz-Eversdorf was dissolved by law on January 1, 2011. Groß Wieblitz was incorporated into Salzwedel as a district. The district does not belong to any locality.

The Protestant parish Groß Wieblitz used to belong to the parish of Tylsen and is now part of the parish of Diesdorf in the parish of Salzwedel in the provost district of Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
Culture and sights
- The Protestant village church Groß Wieblitz is a rectangular half-timbered building from 1756/57, which was restored in 1985.
- There is a cemetery in the churchyard.
