The community Steinitz consisted of the districts Kemnitz and Ziethnitz with the residential area Phillips Kolonie .

history

On July 1, 1950, the Steinitz community was formed through the merger of the Kemnitz and Ziethnitz communities.

In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Frischauf", was established. It was dissolved again in the same year. In 1958 the second type III LPG, the LPG “Friendship”, was created. It was merged in 1960 with the LPG "Freier Bauer" Salzwedel-Böddenstedt.

At the end of 2008, Steinitz was still one of the richest communities in Saxony-Anhalt thanks to local business tax payers. She supported the Jeetze-Landschaftssanierung employment agency with two million euros, including for the Salzwedel fairy tale park . On January 1, 2011, the Steinitz community was dissolved by law and incorporated into Salzwedel. A complaint by the municipality against the procedure of incorporation before the state constitutional court of Saxony-Anhalt remained without consequences.

So far, no locality within the meaning of the municipal code of Saxony-Anhalt has emerged from the former municipality.
