Depekolk belongs to the village of Liesten and is a district of the Hanseatic city of Salzwedel in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Depekolk, a street village extended to the south-west , is located around 13 kilometers south-east of Salzwedel on the Benkendorfer Vorfluther (river ditch). Two kilometers south is the 66 meter high wind mountain.

Neighboring places are Liesten, Rademin , Ladekath , Jeggeleben and Büssen .

history

In 1319, a priest from the village called Johannis as is in Curia Johannis dicti depekolc called, than that of Garthow the Monastery Arendsee uplift the village Liesten zuwiesen.

In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Dyepkolk . Further mentions are 1541 Dipkolck , 1687 Depekolck , 1820 Depekolk or Diepkolk and 1804 Depekolck .

Origin of the place name

Schmidt interprets Depekolk as a watering hole using the ending kolk . In the vernacular the place was formerly called dippkolk .

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, Depekolk from the Salzwedel district was incorporated into the Liesten community . With the incorporation of Liesten into Salzwedel on January 1, 2010, the district of Depekolk became part of the city of Salzwedel and the newly established village of Liesten.
