Wistedt belongs to the village of Osterwohle and is a district of the Hanseatic city of Salzwedel in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The Altmark village of Wistedt, a round square village with a church on the square, which has been expanded to the south and southwest , is located 12 kilometers southwest of Salzwedel on the little river Salzwedeler Dumme . Neighboring towns are Henningen , Osterwohle , Wallstawe and Langenapel .
history
The village is first mentioned in 1279 as villa wizstede . The Diesdorf monastery had bought a farm in the village from Heinrich von Dannenberg. In 1346 it says in a document at the village Wystede . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Wistede . There were seven courtyards, four of which were desolate . Further mentions are 1687 Wistede and 1804 Wistedt .
Incorporations
Wistedt used to be an independent municipality in the Salzwedel district . It came to the Salzwedel district on July 25, 1952 and was incorporated into Osterwohle on October 1, 1972. The district of Wistedt thus belonged to the independent municipality of Osterwohle until the end of 2009 and was a member of the Salzwedel-Land administrative association . Since the incorporation of Osterwohle into Salzwedel on January 1, 2010, Wistedt has belonged to the town of Salzwedel as a district and to the newly formed village of Osterwohle.

The Protestant parish Wistedt belonged to the parish Osterwohle, whereby the church in Henningen was mater combinata and even the mother church of the parish Osterwohle for a long time . The Protestant from Wistedt now belong to the parish area Osterwohle-Dähre in Kirchenkreis Salzwedel in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
Culture and sights
- The Protestant village church in Wistedt is a small field stone building from the 15th century. It is a branch church of the parish in Osterwohle .
- In Wistedt there is a memorial for the fallen of the First and Second World Wars, a square stone monument on a field stone base, with a sphere and an eagle with spread wings on top.
