Klein Gerstedt belongs to the village of Osterwohle and is a district of the Hanseatic city of Salzwedel in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

The Altmark village of Klein Gerstedt, a round square village extended to the north and west with a church on the square, is about six kilometers west of Salzwedel. The Salzwedeler Dumme flows in the south of the village . Neighboring towns are Groß Gerstedt , Klein Wieblitz and Bombeck .
history
In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Lutken Gherstede with 10 yards. Further mentions are 1608 Luetken gerstedt , 1687 Lütken Gerstede and 1804 Klein Gerstedt .
Incorporations
Klein Gerstedt used to be an independent municipality in the Salzwedel district . On October 1, 1939, the municipalities of Klein Gerstedt and Groß Gerstedt merged to form the municipality of Gerstedt . Due to the dissolution of the Gerstedt community through incorporation in Osterwohle on October 1, 1972, the Klein Gerstedt district came to Osterwohle. Until the end of 2009, Klein Gerstedt belonged to the independent municipality of Osterwohle and was a member of the Salzwedel-Land administrative association . With the incorporation of Osterwohle into Salzwedel on January 1, 2010, the Klein Gerstedt district became part of the town of Salzwedel and the new town of Osterwohle.

The Evangelical parish of Klein Gerstedt used to belong to the parish of Bombeck. The Protestant Christians from Klein Gerstedt today belong to the parish of Osterwohle-Dähre in the parish of Salzwedel in the Provostspengel Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
Culture and sights
- The Evangelical village church of Klein Gerstedt is a late Romanesque field stone building . It is a branch church of the parish in Bombeck .
- The local cemetery is in the churchyard.
- The war memorial built by the sculptor Carl Mettel was made of field stones and inaugurated on 1921. The monolith is a boulder that was found in "Kohede's Plan" in Laus (area approx. 2 km north of the village). In the foundation of the monument, a document describing the economic performance of the village was walled into a bottle.
