Michael Kaeding

Michael Kaeding (* 1977 in Wuppertal ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Kaeding studied administrative sciences at the University of Konstanz , the University of Pavia and the University of Moscow and was at the University of Leiden to Dr. phil. PhD. He was then a Post Doc and from 2007 to 2012 Senior Lecturer with a focus on European decision-making processes at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht. In 2007 he received the Van-Poelje Prijs for the best dissertation in the Netherlands in the field of public administration. In 2010, he conducted research at the University of Wisconsin on a Fulbright grant .

In 2012 he became professor for European integration and European politics at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen . He holds a Jean Monnet Chair . He has also been a visiting fellow at EIPA in Maastricht since 2013 and a visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges. In 2016 he won the PADEMIA teaching award with the project "NRW debates Europe". In 2016 he succeeded Wolfgang Wessels as CEO of TEPSA - Trans European Policy Studies Association. In addition, Kaeding has been a member of the European Integration working group since 2017 and was co-editor of the Journal of European Integration up to that point .

Since 2017 Kaeding has been leading the H2020 project SEnECA - Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia Relations together with Katrin Böttger from the Berlin Institute for European Politics .

He has published in journals such as Journal of Common Market Studies , Comparative European Politics , Zeitschrift für Politikwissenschaft , European Law Journal , The Theory and Practice of Legislation , International Political Science Review, European Union Politics, Journal of European Public Policy and European Journal of Political Research .
