Michael Knipper

Michael Knipper (* 1967 ) is a German medical historian .

Life

Knipper studied medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the University of Oviedo . In 1996/97 he worked in child and youth medicine in Mechernich . In the German Academic Exchange Service he carried out ethnomedical field research in Ecuador from 1997 to 1999 . Since 2000 he has been a research assistant at the Medical History Institute of the University of Bonn and in 2001/02 in the tropical medicine outpatient department of the University Hospital Düsseldorf . In May 2003 he went to the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 2004 and 2005 he was visiting professor at the University of Granada in the Erasmus program . In the 2010/2011 winter semester , he completed his habilitation in the history, anthropology and ethics of medicine .

In the area of ​​medical education and intercultural competence, he has been coordinating the university partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos since 2009 .

In 2014, Knipper received the Ars legendi Faculty Prize for Medicine.
