Michael Konken

Michael Konken (born October 23, 1953 in Sande ) is a German journalist . From 2003 to 2015 he was federal chairman of the German Association of Journalists (DJV).

Life

Michael Konken studied administration and law and graduated with a degree in administrative management (FH). As a freelance journalist, Konken worked for Deutschlandfunk in Cologne as well as for the Jeversche Wochenblatt and Radio Bremen . In Wilhelmshaven he was press spokesman for the world exhibition "Expo am Meer", Wilhelmshaven's contribution to Expo 2000 . In Wilhelmshaven he was the city's press spokesman until the end of 2001. At the beginning of 2002 he moved to the FH Wilhelmshaven to study media economics and journalism and was responsible for the development of the journalistic area.

Since 2002 he has been teaching journalism, politics and public as well as journalistic writing at the University of Vechta ; at the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg / Ostfriesland / Wilhelmshaven since 1994 urban and regional communication.

In 1999 he was elected chairman of the DJV regional association of Lower Saxony and in 2003 as the successor to Rolf Lautenbach he was elected national chairman of the DJV. He held this office until November 2015.
