He then played in the following season for their league rivals HK CSKA Moscow , as well as the Russian Penguins - a selection of CSKA players who played some games against teams of the North American International Hockey League for marketing reasons . Like his then goalkeeper colleague Nikolai Chabibulin, Svyagin stayed in North America and ran from 1994 to 1996 for the Detroit Falcons in the Colonial Hockey League and from 1996 to 1999 for the Quad City Mallards from the United Hockey League . With the Mallards he won the Colonial Cup in 1996 and 1997 , and the Tarry Cup in 1997 .

In the 1999/2000 season Swjagin stood for GEC Nordhorn and the Crocodiles Hamburg from the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga between the posts, before he played again in the United Hockey League from 2000 to 2002, where he prevented goals for the Adirondack Ice Hawks. During the 2001/02 season, the goalie returned to Russia, where he was initially under contract from 2002 to 2005 for Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , and then for another three years at HK Dynamo Moscow . With Dynamo Moscow he won the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2006 . The 2007/08 season ended Svyagin at Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , before he was committed in the summer of 2008 by Lokomotive Yaroslavl . As a substitute for Georgi Gelaschwili , he completed five games in the main round and one playoff game in the newly founded Continental Hockey League .
