Michael Martin Kofler

Michael Martin Kofler (born April 9, 1966 in Villach ) is an Austrian flautist . Since 1987 he has been principal flutist with the Munich Philharmonic .

education

Kofler received his first flute lessons at the age of ten. Later he was a young student at the Klagenfurt Conservatory. At the Musikhochschule Vienna he completed a concert and pedagogy course with Werner Tripp and Wolfgang Schulz . He then studied postgraduate with Peter Lukas Graf at the Basel Music Academy . Kofler also took lessons from Aurèle Nicolet as well as András Adorján and André Jaunet. In 1987 Kofler became principal flutist in the international Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado .

In 1987, at the age of only 21, Kofler was appointed principal flutist with the Munich Philharmonic. Since 1989, when he was 23 years old, he was the youngest professor of Austria’s concert flute at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Kofler has appeared as soloist with more than 90 internationally renowned orchestras such as the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields , the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Philharmonic and Symphonic Orchestras of Munich, Calgary, Prague, Tokyo, Kyoto, Ljubljana, Zagreb or the Zagreb Soloists under Conductors such as Massel, Levine, Luisi, Kitajenko, Brüggen, Koopman, Graf, Nott and others. v. a. has given concerts and performed at various festivals.

Kofler's wife Regine (* 1971 in Munich) was the principal harpist of the Hof Symphony Orchestra .
