Michael McIndoe (born December 2, 1979 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player . The B-selection player of the "Bravehearts", who can be used mostly in the left midfield, is currently under contract with the English second division club Coventry City after a series of mostly shorter engagements in British professional football .

Athletic career

At the age of 18, McIndoe gained his first professional experience with the English third division club Luton Town , made his debut on August 31, 1998 in the 3-1 away win at Wigan Athletic as a substitute in the second half and was a substitute player for the club until the end of 1999 with 19 appearances in 39 league games "Hatters". After half a year with no further match experience, he moved to Hereford United in July 2000 on a free transfer . In England's fifth-highest division, he was one of the top performers right away, but increasing financial difficulties at the "Bulls" ensured that he moved on to rival Yeovil Town as early as February 2001 within the Football Conference for £ 25,000 . There he was with his speed on the left flank an important factor that the club succeeded in the professional game operation of the Football League after winning the FA Trophy in the 2002/03 season as conference champions . With twelve goals this season, he had a comparatively high goal rate for a midfielder. Immediately after this success, McIndoe asked for clearance for a club change and a short time later hired for £ 50,000 at the fourth division competitor Doncaster Rovers .

With the "Rovers" in 2004 he achieved his second ascent in a row. In addition, McIndoe was again the second best goalscorer of his club and was also voted into the "Team of the 2003/04 Season". In the third-rate Football League One , he contributed twelve league goals to stay in the league and made a name for himself in the following season, even up to the Premier League , when he scored the first goal in the League Cup with a penalty in the 3-0 win against Aston Villa scored and scored after just four minutes against Arsenal - the duel was ultimately lost on penalties after the Gunners equalized in stoppage time. He also came more and more into the focus of the Scottish national team through his performances ; The increased ambitions he underpinned by a short loan deal with the second division Derby County , where he completed eight championship games between March and April 2006.

The search for a new club apparently came to an end at the second division newcomer FC Barnsley . However , he quickly used the good performance in the Football League Championship as a springboard, which promoted him to ambitious league rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers by means of a release clause in autumn 2006 - he initially played there on loan and signed at the turn of the year 2006/07 for a transfer fee of 250,000 Pound a contract. In July 2007 he signed a new contract with the second division newly promoted Bristol City , whereby McIndoe was decisive to work again with Gary Johnson - his ex-coach from Yeovil. As in the previous year with the "Wolves", he also reached the play-off games with the "Robins" in 2008 and narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League with a 0: 1 against final opponent Hull City . After another year, speculation increased about a possible transfer to Sheffield United for 500,000 pounds - until this potential new club publicly announced that they had better players in this position with Kyel Reid and Keith Treacy . Regardless of this, McIndoe found a new employer on August 4, 2009 in Coventry City, which is also located in the second division .
