Michael Praun

Michael Praun (born December 15, 1626 in Nuremberg , † February 11, 1696 in Kempten ) was a German lawyer and Baden-Durlach land clerk , senior administrative officer and councilor .

Family and origin

Praun comes from a patrician family. His father was the lawyer Michael Praun the Elder († 1667). Praun married Sabina Heider (* 1641) on October 25, 1658, the daughter of the Lindau syndic Jacob Heider (1611–1655). Two daughters are known from this connection:

The Reichshofrat agent Tobias Sebastian Praun was a brother of Michael Praun.

Life

In 1649 Praun began studying law at the University of Helmstedt , where he also studied with Hermann Conring , and in 1652 moved to the University of Altdorf . Here he received his doctorate on November 6, 1655, having previously worked as a lawyer in Nuremberg. In 1658 he took the position of a syndic of the then Free Imperial City of Lindau . The imperial ennoblement took place in 1663 and he was also appointed imperial court palatinate count. In 1667 he moved to the then free imperial city of Kempten as a syndic . In 1674 Praun was accepted into the language academy “ Fruit Bringing Society ” as the 849th member, where he was nicknamed “The Presenter”. In 1676 Praun became the land clerk of the Baden-Durlach Oberamt Rötteln and at the same time senior administrator until the governor Reinhard von Gemmingen took office . In 1680 he was followed by Wilhelm Bernhard Reichenbach in the office of land clerk, while Praun became court advisor to the margraviate of Baden-Durlach . From 1692 until his death in 1696 he worked again as syndic of the city of Kempten.
