Reinhard von Gemmingen

Reinhard von Gemmingen (* 31 December 1645 in Neckarzimmern ; † 29. July 1707 in Basel ) was Baden-durlachscher bailiff in Rötteln and landlord on Burg Hornberg , Treschklingen , Babstadt , Michel Field , Beihingen and Wolfskehlen .

Life

He was one of the sons of Weiprecht von Gemmingen (1608–1680) from his first marriage to Anna Benedikta von Gemmingen-Fürfeld (1614–1647). After studying and making a cavalier tour , he entered service in Baden. From 1674 to 1694 he was governor in Rötteln . He repeatedly came into conflict with the French due to hunting disputes, who built their fortress in Hüningen from 1680 and also fed the fortress workers through hunts on the Baden side of the Rhine.

In 1673 he married Maria Elisabeth von Neipperg, who brought half of them into the place of Beihingen, part of Daudenzell and tithe rights in Hausen and Massenbach .

In 1677, as court junker and chamberlain, alongside forester von Hallweyl, he was among the escort of Margrave Friedrich Magnus when he paid homage in Durlach.

1688 he was the Margrave of Baden-Durlach Receding President risen and was the deputy of the absent Margrave Friedrich Magnus the keys of the city Durlach. Von Gemmingen had to hand over the keys to them at the protest of the commandant von Schilling, the issue of the slogan and the safekeeping of fuses and balls remained with von Gemmingen. Later he reached the office of chief marshal .

The castle in Treschklingen and the town of Beihingen were destroyed by French troops in the Palatinate War of Succession . In 1697 von Gemmingen was attacked by a patrol on the way to Neckarzimmern and robbed of all his belongings.

He married Maria Elisabetha von Neipperg (1652–1722) at Hornberg Castle on May 1, 1673 . Among his sons, the Hornberg tribe of the baron family split into three lines: Eberhard (1688–1767) founded the Treschklingen line , Friedrich (1691–1738) founded the Babstadt line and Ludwig (1694–1771) founded the Neckarzimmern line . The fourth son Reinhard (1677–1750), who had come to age, obtained the castle loan in Kochendorf .
