Michael Ringier (born March 30, 1949 in Zofingen ) is a Swiss publisher .

Life

His parents are Hans and Eva Ringier (née Landolt). The University of St. Gallen visited Ringier only from 1970 to 1972. In 1973 he began working as a journalist for the Munich newspaper . After courses at the Ringier School of Journalism and editorial positions in his family's media company, Ringier completed a trainee program at Heinrich Bauer Verlag in Hamburg in 1976/1977 . He then worked for Stern's business editorial team and designed (also for Gruner + Jahr ) the magazine impulse , in whose Cologne editorial office he headed the “Business Administration and Companies” department from 1980 . From 1985 to 1991 he was a member of the board of directors of the Swiss Dispatch Agency .

Private

Michael Ringier is married to the lawyer Ellen Ringier (née Lüthy) and has two adoptive daughters. He is a recognized art collector and lives in a modern villa on Lake Zurich. He likes to spend his vacation in his holiday home in the Engadine . He enjoys jogging and is a passionate tennis and golf player.

Ringier AG

In 1983 he returned to Switzerland, where he was responsible for new media and the German market at Ringier AG . In 1985 Michael Ringier became Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ringier AG, and in 1990 Chairman of the Board of Directors . In 1991 he assumed sole responsibility for the company as Chairman of the Board of Directors. In 1997 he resigned as Chairman of the Board of Directors and took over the operational management of Ringier AG as Delegate of the Board of Directors. He also took over the journalistic management of the publisher. In 2003 Ringier became Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ringier Holding AG.
