Michael Sailer (born July 7, 1963 in Munich ) is a German author and musician.

Sailer writes the columns Harassment in the city magazine In Munich and Schwabinger Krawall in the taz (formerly in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung on the Munich pages ). In addition, from 1993 to 2000 he was editor, reporter and main reviewer of the magazine WOM-Journal, from 2002 to 2010 editor and author of the magazine Musikexpress , writes for several other publications (including concrete and the Süddeutsche Zeitung ) and books and occasionally attends readings and Cabaret events.

Sailer published a biography of Deep Purple in 2005 (together with Jürgen Roth ). Sailer's first novel Die Verrückten stand in der Sonne was published in 2010, the second, Wegerichs Heft , followed in 2012. In addition, his columns were published in book form and as audio books.

In the summer of 2009, the musical Die Bavarian Horror Show was premiered in Haimhausen , for which Sailer wrote the libretto and lyrics, but which may no longer be performed due to a veto by the owner of the rights to The Rocky Horror Show .

Since the summer of 2007, Sailer has been a permanent member of the reading stage “Schwabinger Schaumschläger Show”, which performs with guests every Sunday in the pub “Vereinsheim” in Munich-Schwabing. Sailer can also be seen there every Monday at the mixed show Blickpunkt Spot , as a reader and occasionally as a presenter, as well as occasionally as a guest on the TV show Vereinsheim Schwabing recorded there . Once a year there is a joint reading evening with Sailer and the cabaret artist and author Andreas Rebers , and the event “World hits in Bavarian, Styrian, Hessian (and Latin)” also takes place every year, at which apart from Sailer the songwriters and cabaret artists Christoph Theussl, Tilman Birr , Elis C. Bihn and Björn Puscha are involved.

In the summer of 2016 Sailer took part with Sven Kemmler, Mathias Tretter, Ulan & Bator, Martina Schwarzmann, Jochen Malmsheimer, Dagmar Schönleber, Werner Brix u. a. in the satirical theater revue Dodge City - A city says oh you shit , which ran for several evenings in the Munich comedy theater . In February 2018, Auf See - Unsinn hart am Wind followed , in which Georg Schramm , Nessi Tausendschön , Alex Burkhard and theater owner Till Hofmann were also involved.

Michael Sailer has been a member of the Karl Valentin Society since 2012.

From 1982 to 1984 he was the editor and main author of the fanzine Der Blitz, published in Munich . At the end of the 80s, Sailer was one of the leading actors in the TV series Blam! . In the summer of 2009 he was seen with the ensemble "Theater Münchner Freiheit" in a double role in Alan Ayckbourn's play Konfusionen ( Confusions ). He is also a member of the situationist theater group “Schwabinger Bürgererversammlung”, which, among other things, performed the play Casakabul on New Year's Eve 2009 , Romeo & Juliet in the Wild West in 2010 , and the documentary revue Krieg! In spring 2011 . and at the end of 2011 staged an absurd version of the Odyssey .

Sailer was or is a member of the bands Tollwut , The Comics , Marionetz , V2-Schneider , Born Bavarian, Dead City Radio , Narcotic Brothers, Tilt !, Fuse, Organismus Miller-Trares, Rivolta, Lichtmaschine and Hundert Nutten, mostly as a guitarist and singer , sometimes bassist or drummer. In addition, he plays solo and at improvised recitals, a. a. with Titus Waldenfels and Michael Reiserer. In 2014/15, Sailer and Ayna Steigerwald and Stefan Noelle organized the series Liebe Sau - The Stage of Flaming and Broken Hearts , where he performed his own songs.
