Michael Schwaiger (* 1970 ) is a Bavarian politician. The trained banker was from 2008 to 2014 for the Free Voters District Administrator of the Upper Bavarian district of Freising .

Political and professional career

After completing school at the Karl-Meichelbeck-Realschule in Freising, Michael Schweiger trained as a banker at the Freisinger Bank from 1989 and was branch manager in Marzling from 1993. From 1996 he was a member of the Marzling parish council. In 2002 he was elected 1st mayor of the municipality of Marzling , an office he held until 2008. From 2005 he was also 1st chairman of the protection association Erding-Nord, Freising und Umgebung eV After he no longer ran for this office at the end of 2014, Manfred Pointner was elected as his successor.

In the election for the district administrator of the Freising district in 2008, Michael Schwaiger was able to prevail in the runoff election against his competitor and member of the state parliament Christian Magerl . Schwaiger received 58.5 percent of the vote, 41.3 percent of those eligible to vote voted for Magerl. Both were against the further expansion of Munich Airport with a third runway and against the construction of the Transrapid from the main train station in Munich to the airport. Until the planning was discontinued, Schwaiger also campaigned against the so-called “Marzlinger Spange” for the rail link to the airport. On October 24, 2013, Schwaiger announced that he would not run for the next district election in March 2014 for health reasons. Josef Hauner was elected as his successor .

Since October 1st, 2014 he has been the managing director of Lebenshilfe Freising eV
